I was in Paxico, Kansas, photographing a story on the role that bars play in small town America-how they become social gathering centers for the entire community. I had gone there a couple of times, photographing the old men playing cards and the kids coming by after school. I needed to go there on a Saturday night. There is a wonderful rush that you get when you make a great photograph and when I saw that through my lens, I knew I had the lead photograph for the story.
