Weston Beach, Point Lobos. Over the years I've been to this spot dozens of times. I was there as a college student standing in awe at the swirling patterns that Edward Weston had photographed so famously. I was there for National Geographic when Cole Weston put in the sign that officially changed the name from Pebbly Beach to Weston Beach. But as often as I had been there I never saw it as I did this day in October of 2004. I made a half dozen photographs that morning that were terrific. This was my favorite. When my good friend Steven Ottenstein saw it, he took it under his arm and said he had to have it. That was the last I saw of that print.
